Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is the perfect complement to a busy, connected, and active life – giving you the pause you need to relax, rejuvenate, and feel your very best
What is Swedish Massage?
Swedish massage is a gentle yet deeply effective treatment designed to ease muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote overall relaxation. Using flowing, soothing strokes, it helps release stress from both body and mind, creating a sense of calm and balance.
Perfect for those with active lifestyles, it supports recovery, reduces stiffness, and enhances flexibility, while also offering a nurturing space to slow down and reconnect with yourself.
Whether you’re looking to restore energy, unwind after a busy week, or simply prioritise your self-care, Swedish massage is a rejuvenating experience that leaves you feeling lighter, calmer, and refreshed.
What are the benefits of Swedish massage?
The benefits of Swedish massage go far beyond relaxation. This gentle yet effective treatment helps to ease muscular tension, improve circulation, and boost flexibility, making it ideal for supporting an active lifestyle. It encourages the release of stress and promotes deeper, more restful sleep, while also enhancing overall mood and wellbeing.
By calming the nervous system and lowering stress hormones, Swedish massage provides a powerful reset for both body and mind – leaving you feeling more balanced, energised, and ready to enjoy life with renewed vitality.
How should I prepare for a treatment?
Preparing for a Swedish massage is simple and all about your comfort. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and avoid heavy meals or alcohol beforehand so your body can fully relax. Staying hydrated before and after your treatment helps your muscles and circulation respond more effectively. Arrive a few minutes early to settle in, breathe, and switch off from the outside world. Most importantly, come with an open mind and allow yourself this time for self-care – your massage is a space just for you to relax, let go, and be nurtured.
What to expect during your Swedish massage
During your Swedish massage, you’ll be invited to lie comfortably on the massage table, where you’ll be covered with soft towels to ensure you feel warm and relaxed. Skin will be exposed only where I will be working and I kindly ask you to ensure that you wear appropriate undergarments during your treatment. I’ll use gentle, flowing strokes combined with light to medium pressure to ease tension and encourage deep relaxation. The treatment is always tailored to your comfort level, and you’re welcome to let me know if you’d like more or less pressure at any time. Many people find themselves drifting into a calm, almost meditative state, while others simply enjoy the soothing sensation of being nurtured. Afterwards, you may feel lighter, more balanced, and deeply refreshed – a feeling that can stay with you long after your massage has finished.
Aftercare advice after your Swedish massage
After your Swedish massage, it’s important to give yourself time to enjoy the benefits. Drink plenty of water to help flush out any toxins released during the treatment and to keep your body hydrated. Try to avoid rushing back into a busy schedule straight away – instead, allow yourself some quiet time, a gentle walk, or a soothing cup of tea. You may feel deeply relaxed, or even a little sleepy, so listen to your body and rest if you need to. Looking after yourself in the hours after your massage helps to extend the sense of calm, balance, and rejuvenation.
How often can I have a treatment?
For those who lead full, active lives, regular Swedish massage can be a powerful way to stay balanced and energised. A monthly treatment offers the perfect rhythm to release tension, support recovery from exercise, and give your mind the calm it deserves. During busier or more stressful times, coming fortnightly or weekly can provide even greater relief and keep you feeling at your best. Think of massage as part of your ongoing self-care – a nurturing space that allows you to slow down, restore your energy, and continue living your vibrant, connected life with ease.
